"Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget" is a decent animated film that falls short of the standards set by Aardman Animation, creators of Wallace and Gromit and Shaun the Sheep. This film takes place 23 years after the original "Chicken Run" with Ginger and Rocky from Tweedy's Farm It follows the escape.
Stuck in a giant chicken coop, the film’s daughter, Molly, is curious about the situation on the fun-land. The film’s physical comedy, old vaudeville, and old-fashioned characters are catchy, but the script is a bit off. The voiceover is uninspired, and Zachary Levy doesn’t get the right voice for a former dance star.
Despite this, "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget" keeps audiences interested in saving Molly and her new friends, and with just enough humour and character changes to keep most viewers hooked in and yet, it falls short of what it should be, and not animated by Aardman.
