Pushpa: The Rise is a rustic masala film directed by Sukumar, featuring Allu Arjun as Pushpa Raj, a coolie who illegally chops down red sandalwood. The film's Achilles heel is his brother, Ajay, who refuses to let him claim his lineage. Pushpa's unbending nature is challenged by IPS Bhanwar Singh Shekawat, who threatens to upend his order.
