Petta Rap is an action comedy featuring Prabhu Deva as the lead, referencing his three-decade-old blockbuster Kadhalan. The story follows aspiring film star Balasubramaniam, who resorts to suicide after unsuccessful auditions. He meets dancer Jeni and encounters hooligans with societal powers.
The film suffers from originality, superficial moments, and underwritten characters. The dialogues are weak, and the songs are passable but unforgivable. The storytelling relies on fights and songs that add little value to the plot. The veteran choreographer-actor-filmmaker's role in the film is astonishing, and even a surprise at the climax does little to engage the audience.
