"Ultraman: Rising" is an animated superhero fantasy film that follows the story of the 58-year-old alien hero Ultraman, who grows up to be a giant. The film follows baseball pro Ken Sato as he engages in major league work and kaiju battle calls.

Ken takes on the role of caring for Amy, who has a baby kaiju that was found after her fight with the dragon Gigantron. The film’s formulaic Daddy Issues drama reenacts decades of fake adult fake animated movies. The film's voice cast does its best to jump start their lifeless characters, but the film reinforces the DreamWorks Light voice when Ken is the focal point and the film lacks notable insight into what it means to be a parent or an adult of struggling to wear several hats at the same time.
