Kalvan is a simple yet entertaining film that explores a variety of topics, including the human psyche and animals. However, the simplicity and frivolity of the film makes it unwatchable. 

The casting and the characterization of Chief Kemban is commendable. But the film follows the archetypal story with standard prerequisites like wearable music and CGI support. The introduction of the Malayali character Mahout is dull and takes away all the charm of the film. 

The film’s archetypal narrative and lack of subtle progression may hamper its appeal. Overall, Kalvan is a harmless but indispensable watch.
