"Abigail" is a high-concept horror about a group of kidnappers who unwittingly kidnap a child-sized vampire dancer. The film features plummy characters from That Guys like Kevin Durand and Dan Stevens, with some less glamorous roles. The ensemble cast does their best with tic-y, schtick-y material, some action scenes are well done but generally overdone The film's producers Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett could have given more, but the structure is rigid by number and so are the lines All are stocks

The film is structured strictly by numbers, the characters are stock. The most sympathetic character in the film is Peter, who constantly pushes the limits of his character. The film also has a number of epithet tropes, including Abigail's caretaker, Joey, their angry driver Dean, and the more quiet ex-soldier Rickles

The film may find its audience with good timing and aspirations, but it isn’t done badly, it’s just not inspired and consumed. If you like budget B-movies and are looking for an easy time, "Abigail" could be for you. However, it can also disappoint those hoping for more than advertised.
