Ranam Aram Thavarel is an outstanding Tamil investigative thriller in a very narrow genre. The film opens with a body found at a crime scene and the police unsure of the motive behind the crime. The protagonist, Shiva, is an artist who also makes faces. Despite some flaws, this film works as a whole, bringing in a lot of characters and focusing on the central story. 

The filmmakers have incorporated individual arcs into the main story, but the filmmakers are playing very little. Vaibhav's character isn't cooking well, and Tanya Hope's lip-syncing is off. Despite these shortcomings, Ranam-Aram-Thaverel is a worthy addition to Tamil cinema, offering a unique and entertaining film that is neither reformulated nor repeated
